3x Hook Loop Sanding Disc 150 Grit
The Norton 3X hook and loop abrasive disc may be employed with 5- or 8-hole vacuum sanders, due to it is universal hole design. NorGrip hook and loop fastener is easy to press on and tear off, and makes disc changes fast. This disc is employed for paint stripping, sanding and finishing on composites and fiberglass, and all-purpose bare wood sanding.
Coated abrasives have person abrasive grains spaced at a predetermined distance from one another. This is a closed-coat disc. A closed coat covers 100 percent of the surface with abrasive grains, for more stiffness and better surface finish than an equivalent open coat, where abrasive grit covers 50 to 70 percent of the surface. The stearate coating offers more durability over an uncoated abrasive while resisting chip loading. Stearated abrasives are non-pigmented to eliminate color transfer to the work surface. High strength, fiber-reinforced B weight (paper is classified from A to F weight, F being the heaviest and least flexible) is strong, reducing edge wear for the duration of use. This disc is suitable for use with a die grinder or orbital sander. Use with molded-rubber back-up pads on a grinder. Use a hard pad for aggressive cutting, a medium pad for general-purpose applications, or a soft pad for contours and fine finishing work. Or, with a random orbital sander, use a foam back-up pad to match the application. Foam pads may come in dissimilar compoundings of shape and density for finer or more aggressive work. For example, use a low profile for uniform contact with the work surface, a tapered edge for little contours or inside corners, soft density for 320 grit and finer sanding, or medium density for grits coarser than 320.
Aluminum oxide is a widely applied and versatile abrasive material. It is a tough, fracture- and wear-resistant grit that works well with a wide range of materials, from metals to wood. Aluminum oxide is more lasting than silicon carbide and often employed for material remotion and finishing. P-graded abrasive grains are kept to a closer tolerance than non-P-graded abrasives, which means that they offer a more consistent surface finish.
Abrasives are applied for a assortment of apps from shaping a percentage to fine finishing, depending on the grit size. Low grit numbers like 40 are coarse and are used for removing excess material and shaping a part. High grit numbers like 400 are fine and aid to formulate a smooth surface finish.
Norton Abrasives manufactures a wide potpourri of sanding, grinding, and polishing abrasives, and has been located in the United States since 1885. In 1990, Saint-Gobain purchased Norton, keeping it is developing facilities and offices in the same location. Norton/Saint-Gobain has been recognized as a Global 100 Sustainable Company, as well as earning ISO 9000 and 14001 certification for quality and environmental management standards.

| Norton 3X 5″ universal vacuum hole Hook and Sand discs are fictitious with our patented ceramic alumina SG abrasive. Norton 3X Hook and Sand discs lasts 3 times longer than conventional aluminum oxide discs providing consistent finish. These discs are tear and clog resistant, will not taint a surface finish and the hook and loop backing allows for quick and easy disc changes for repeated use or until the disc is worn out

Cut well, but they can fly off the sander By Dave Millman I bought two 10-packs in anticipation of a large refinishing job. These disks replaced older Norton 8-hole disks that had performed fine with my Makita random orbit sander. I would give the old paper disks 3 or 4 stars.
These new disks cut very well, better than the older Norton disks, and they seem to last longer as well. The backing is tougher than standard paper disks-the grit wears down before the backing starts to deteriorate.
However, I’m giving only two stars because two of the first four disks came off the sander while in use. One of these flew right off when I lifted the tool off the workpiece, and the other slid off while in contact with the workpiece. The hooks on the sander are fine-I tested with older Norton disks of other grits. In fact, assuming the disk stays on until the grit is worn out, these new disks take more effort to remove than the older Norton disks.
I don’t know why they fly off. Both times it happened after the disk had been in use for 5 minutes or more, but there was plenty of grit left and the backing was undamaged. After some experimentation, my guess is that there is a grain or orientation pattern to the loops on these disks. If you line it up wrong, it flies off, but turn it 90 degrees and it stays on tight. There is no such orientation to the older Norton disks.
Power tools are supposed to save work, not make you guess about orientation that is neither marked nor obvious. When I’m sanding, I’m looking through dirty goggles, breathing through a dirty mask, and I’m usually hot, so I don’t want more work or frustration. After I use up the remainder of these disks, I’ll try another brand.

Everything you want By Peter Susi
Not much to say besides this: Quality product.
The 5/8 hole design is nice, and the discs hold up quite well. I’m very happy and will buy these exclusively from now on.
