3 Piece Waterstone Set at Amazon

That’s not what you get. What you get is a solid rectangle of artificial nagura stone. Now, I actually prefer this, so I’m ok with it. Still, it’s just nothing like the picture. The BAD: Another quick note about the picture: the combination stone is shown larger than the single stone. Again, not correct: they’re the same length. But the real problem is the exact sizes of the stones. The combination stone is advertised thus: “Combination stones are 8-1/8″ long X 2-1/8″ wide X 1-1/8″ thick.” They are not. I have my new, just-opened stone at hand, along with a ruler. It is 7 1/4″ long x 2 1/2″ wide x 1″ thick, with a 1/8″ thick piece of plastic separating the layers. (Again, not something you can see in the photo. The single stone is described thus: “Single grit stones are 8″ long X 2 – 5/8″ wide X 1 – 3/8″ thick.” My actual measurements are 7 1/4″ long x 2 1/2″ wide x 7/16″ thick. Total volume of stone advertised: 19.4238 (combination) + 28.875 = 48.2988 square inches. So, the actual product is less than HALF what is advertised. Which matters a lot, when it comes to water stones. It’s still a nice set of stones, but the difference between what was promised and what was received is simply huge. I’m very dissatisfied with this purchase, and with Rockler. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I keep a large survival type knife in my truck and survival bag that has a huge blade 9″. The blade was made in china so i knew my sharpening skills would be challenged. So i gave in and brought in the big guns. |
